Testing on the demo seller

tourpingo demo is a made-up seller on staging, for trying the API before you have trips of your own. Its website key is public, and every example on this site works with it as written:

Terminal window
export TP_KEY=tp_pk_demodemo_demodemodemodemodemodemo
Staging
API https://api.stg.vacationpackagesoman.com
Website key tp_pk_demodemo_demodemodemodemodemodemo
Spec openapi.yaml, the contract the API serves, also at /openapi.json on the API

Four invented trips, in the UAE, Oman and Zanzibar, cover the cases a site must handle. Each says it is a demo; none runs.

Trip (slug) What it shows
desert-safari-with-bbq-dinner Booked at once, with limited places; an extra paid upfront (a quad bike); in English and Arabic (locale=ar)
abu-dhabi-city-tour-full-day No price: its from_price is null and no day can be booked, so offer an enquiry to ask the seller
musandam-dhow-cruise-from-khasab On request: no hold; checkout makes a booking that stays pending until the seller confirms it, which the demo seller never does; travellers meet at Khasab harbour
zanzibar-stone-town-and-the-east-coast Three days, with a stay each night; a pickup plan, free at the airport and in Stone Town, USD 20 a car within 25 km and on request farther out; an extra paid on the day

The trips run every day, priced in US dollars, and the site sells in US dollars and UAE dirhams. The site also has an about page, a guide page, header and footer menus, and an old address that redirects, for pages and menus.

The ids in this site’s examples are made up: take the real ones from the list of trips and each trip’s page. The slugs are the demo’s own.

  • Book. Holds, checkouts and cancellations work as they will live. No money moves through the API: travellers pay by a payment link or on the day, outside it.
  • Use made-up travellers with addresses at example.com, never a real person’s details: anyone with the key can book on the demo seller.
  • Your bookings last a day. A booking or an enquiry on the demo seller is deleted a day after it is made, and its places go back on sale. Cancel sooner to free them.
  • No email is sent for the demo seller’s bookings and enquiries, so keep the booking’s token from checkout to open the booking again.
  • Never on a marketplace. The demo seller’s trips are only on its own site; no marketplace’s key shows them.

Once tourpingo’s team has set up your seller on staging, use the website key they give you for its site, as which key to use explains. Staging keeps the emails it would send (confirmations, vouchers, codes) on its server for now instead of sending them, so a booking made there reaches no inbox.
